Course Summary

Advanced Diploma of Accounting, delivered at Westminster College, is a nationally recognised course. This course is structured to equip students with a range of specific accounting knowledge and skills such as maintaining accounting systems, managing and controlling company’s finance, preparing financial statements for a reporting entity, preparing tax returns, reporting on business performance, and preparing management accounting reports. This course offers a useful and practical qualification for students interested in a career in Finance, Accounting, and Commerce. Students will also develop employability skills required by industry such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving and self-management. This qualification is made up of core and elective units. The course is delivered over two year which includes 80 weeks (i.e. 8 terms) of teaching and 24 weeks of holiday.

Academic Qualifications
Satisfactory completion of primary and secondary education of approximately 12 years duration

There are entry requirements for this course, but it would be advantageous to have completed prior study in Australia.

Enrolment of participants will be subject to meeting the following requirements:

Possess FNS50222 Diploma of Accounting; or its superseded version FNS50217 Diploma of Accounting or equivalent, provided the listed elective unit BSBTEC402 Design and produce complex spreadsheets (or equivalent) has been completed by those seeking to enrol

104 weeks consisting of 80 weeks (10-week term) of face-to-face study and 24 weeks of holiday.

Full time 20-hour face-to-face per week basis

The College is located at the heart of the city of Sydney. The college is 10 minutes walking distances from the Town hall train station and only 2 minutes walking distances from public bus stops.

The college has excellent teaching and computer facilities to support delivery. These include:

  • Class Rooms with white board, computers and data projectors
  • Computer labs with appropriate software including;
  • MYOB, MS Words, Excel and Power Point and high speed broadband internet
  • A student library with text and other reference materials which are available for use in the College and to borrow
  • Access to printer, fax and scanner
  • The college also has student amenities such as a lunch break area and kitchen with hot water and microwave.

The College provides trainers sets of workbooks to take to the class for students to use and work on their assessment and other class activities. The books must be returned to the trainer at the end of the class.
